underwater

Underwater is a three-layer, free form light fixture that depicts ideas inspired by fluidity of water and the organic nature of aquatic forms. The design intent is to translate the essence of ‘life underwater’ in a capsuled form of a light fixture, and this intent is demonstrated through form and materiality. The light fixture is made using two different forms of acrylic; 1/16” clear acrylic outer layer and a 1/8” frosted acrylic inner shell and base. The translucency and pattern of the base layers allude to different sea creatures such as the blue tunicate, sea turtles, and stingray.
